When it comes to Europe, Germany is one of India’s most significant partners. India and Germany share a strong economic and developmental partnership. Besides the economic interest, the two countries have a shared interest in upholding democratic values, the rules-based international order, and multilateralism as well as the reform of multilateral institutions.
German investments in IndiaGermany is the seventh largest FDI source for India with the total FDI from April 2000-September 2021 being over USD 13 billion. As per the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, there are more than 1,700 German companies in India. German investments in India are spread to almost all the large sectors including transportation, electrical equipment, metallurgical industries, services sector (particularly insurance), chemicals, construction activity, trading and automobiles.
Recent German investments in India
In 2021 by German automotive components manufacturer Webasto, which invested USD 33.9 million to set up a sunroofs manufacturing facility in Pune. Birkenstock, a lifestyle brand, launched its collection via an e-commerce route with an Indian partner, Seva Group. Bayer, an agrochemical group, formed a new manufacturing plant at Vapi, Gujarat with an investment of USD 28 million. ZF Friedrichshafen AG has lined up Euro 200 million investments in India to increase its share in connected and autonomous technologies.

Adidas Marketing
Founded by Adi Dassler in 1948, the Adidas Group is the second-largest sporting goods company globally. Allianz

The company is headquartered in Munich, Germany and entered India in association with Bajaj Finserv. Today, it operates as Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance.
